ATP-Bio Team Celebrates Winning Concept at 2026 XPRIZE

Global Visioneering Summit

A team including NSF ATP-Bio researchers has achieved a major milestone in advancing the future of organ preservation. Their Organ Biostasis concept was voted the overall winning concept at the 2026 XPRIZE Global Visioneering Summit in Malibu, California.

The achievement marks an important step toward a proposed $50 million global XPRIZE competition aimed at transforming organ transplantation and accelerating drug discovery by making living tissues and organs available on demand.

Developed by Sebastian Giwa, Shannon Tessier, John Bischof, Matt Powell-Palm, and Dominika Wilczok, the concept envisions a future where biological time can effectively be paused, allowing organs and other living systems to be preserved and restored when needed.

This recognition highlights ATP-Bio’s leadership in advancing preservation technologies and its mission of Preserving Living Systems for All.
